Framing a map poster: frames and mats
A frame finishes a poster. Because MyCityMap uses standard paper sizes, finding a frame is easy.
Standard sizes
Frames for A4, A3, A2 and A1 are widely available, as are frames for Letter and Tabloid. Design your poster in the same size as the frame you want to use.
Mat (passe-partout)
A mat adds a white or colored border between the poster and the frame. Many frames for a larger size come with a mat for a smaller size, for example an A2 frame with an A3 opening. In that case, design your poster in the smaller size.
Frame color
A thin black frame suits light styles such as Minimal and Positron. Oak or white frames work well with warm styles such as Kadaster. Dark styles stand out in a light frame on a light wall.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I leave a white margin for framing?
- Yes. Add a border or adjust the background in the editor to create a margin around the map.
- Glass or acrylic?
- Both work. Anti-glare glass or acrylic helps if the poster hangs opposite a window.
